Crystal Palace's 'surprise' stance on accepting Daniel Munoz offer after Everton twist
Crystal Palace have not ruled out letting Daniel Munoz leave in the closing stages of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 30-year-old started in their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Everton last time out, with the Toffees among the clubs believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.
Pierre Sage also confessed ahead of the game that he is happy with the Colombia international, who is also happy at Palace, but there is now competition for his position.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Crystal Palace may now open the door for Munoz to leave, with Everton on high alert.
David Moyes is determined to bring in a new right-back before the window closes, and despite reports elsewhere about his stance, Munoz is seen as a leading target.
The wing-back's expeirience in the Premier League and impressive role in Crystal Palace's recent success has placed him firmly on the Toffees' radar, as well as their rivals.
Could Everton make a move for Daniel Munoz?
Football Insider revealed on 14 August that Crystal Palace have placed a £25million price tag on Munoz and have not ruled out his exit should their valuation be met.
This comes following the signings of Oscar Mingueza and Anan Khalaili, both of whom will provide competition for the right-wing-back role in Sage's starting XI.
Everton are among those keeping a close eye on his situation, and could now be tempted to make a move, with the window reaching it's final stages.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Munoz would tick a lot of boxes for a lot of clubs because he's Premier League proven.
"Everton have been linked with an interest in the Colombian as well as they look to finally solve their right back issues, because that position is still a priority for them.
"David Moyes has been using Jake O'Brien, Merlin Rohl or James Garner there, so ideally they would like a natural right-back.
"Munoz is 30 now as well, so from Crystal Palace's point of view, they might think the time has come for him to move on with some of the new signings they've made as well.
"It will come as a little bit of a surprise if they are willing to let him go because of the job he's done at Crystal Palace, though."
Which other clubs are interested in signing Munoz?
Everton are not the only club interesting in signing Munoz this summer, with a number of their Premier League rivals also keeping a close eye on his situation.
The Colombia international has been outstanding for Crystal Palace since his arrival in 2024, and those performances have placed him on the radar of multiple top sides.
Football Insider revealed on 23 August that Nottingham Forest are among the leading contenders to sign Munoz thanks to his relationship with Oliver Glasner.
Munoz was a revelation under Glasner at Selhurst Park, and played a crucial role in his side winning the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.
Sources say Glasner is keen to reunite with his former star given the strong relationship they forged at Crystal Palace, as he aims to strengthen his Nottingham Forest squad.
