Ismaila Sarr pushing for late move to Liverpool - 'He doesn't want to be at Palace'

Ismaila Sarr is attempting to force through a late move away from Crystal Palace before the transfer window closes amid strong Liverpool interest.

The 28-year-old has been training away from the rest of Pierre Sage's squad in recent weeks, and has not featured this season as he is keen to make a big-money move.

Liverpool would be the winger's preferred destination, after they have seen two offers rejected by the Eagles, but at this late stage, a move elsewhere is on the cards.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Sarr has been clear with the Crystal Palace hierarchy that he hopes to move on before tonight's deadline.

It is now up to Palace to decide whether they would prefer to gamble on keeping Sarr, given his importance to the squad, or to let him go and risk retaining an unhappy player.

Any deal would have to contain a significant fee, likely to be upwards of £70million, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will return with an offer.

Will Crystal Palace allow Ismaila Sarr to leave?

Brown told Football Insider on 31 August that Crystal Palace could be forced to sell Sarr on deadline day, with a "huge" offer likely to be enough to tempt them.

Liverpool's first rejected bid was priced at around £50million, while they are believed to have also seen an improved offer rejected, as Palace are reluctant to see him go.

However, Sarr has now made his intentions clear to the Crystal Palace hierarchy, and hopes to secure a move away before tonight's 11pm deadline.

"Sarr has made it clear to Crystal Palace that he wants to leave," Brown told Football Insider.

"He doesn't want to be there, he hasn't been training with the rest of the squad, he's been on his own at the training ground, and he hasn't been involved in either of Palace's Premier League games.

"When you have a player causing issues and angling for a move like that, it forces you as the club into a decision.

"Do Palace give in to the player's demands and let him move on, even though ideally they would prefer to keep hold of him? Or do they say 'no, he's too important for us to lose him'?

"The problem is, if they don't let him move on, they will be stuck with an unhappy player and then who's to say his performances will be as impressive as they have been?

"It's a difficult situation for the club to be in, but from the player's point of view, this might be his only opportunity to join a club like Liverpool.

"But ultimately he's under contract at Crystal Palace, so they're the ones who will make a decision, they just have to weigh up what they feel will be right for them."

Which other clubs are interested in Sarr?

Liverpool have been considered the leading candidates to sign Sarr in recent days after seeing multiple offers rejected, but they are not alone in their pursuit.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have also seen an offer turned down by Palace, while Saudi Pro League clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on the winger's situation.

Football Insider reported on 26 August that Sarr has always dreamed of playing for Liverpool, having previously admitted he would love to play for the Reds.

However, at this late stage of the window, it appears the winger is now determiend to leave Crystal Palace at any cost even if Liverpool have cooled their interest.

That could hand his other suitors a boost in their pursuit, and while Palace are still reluctant to lose their main man, they may find it impossible to hold on to him.
