Crystal Palace star pulls out of international squad due to injury after manager’s weird decision
Oliver Glasner will want all of his Crystal Palace squad to return from the international break in strong condition.
Crystal Palace’s goalless draw against Brighton last time out left them in 10th position, but only three points behind third-place Chelsea.
Tyrick Mitchell was excellent for Palace in that match as he showcased his defensive and attacking qualities against the Seagulls, while perhaps making Thomas Tuchel regret not calling him up for the England squad.
Mitchell, however, wasn’t the only one who impressed at Selhurst Park, as centre-back Jaydee Canvot proved he’s the perfect long-term replacement for Marc Guehi.

Thomas Tuchel decision questioned after Marc Guehi withdraws from England squad
Guehi suffered a foot injury during Palace’s victory over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League and was then selected a day later (November 7) for Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
That was despite the 25-year-old missing the 0-0 draw against Brighton with a heavy bone bruise, before being left out of England’s 2-0 win over Serbia on November 13.
Tuchel’s weird decision to select an injured player has now backfired, too, as Guehi has now withdrawn from the Three Lions squad, as per Hayters TV, and will return to South London to continue rehabilitation on the foot injury he sustained against AZ.
England will now head into their final World Cup qualifier against Albania with a 24-man squad, while it is unknown whether Guehi will be ready to face Wolves straight after the break.
Jaydee Canvot could start vs Wolves
Should Palace’s captain spend more time on the sidelines, Canvot could have an opportunity to impress against Wolves.
Jaydee Canvot stats vs Brighton
90 minutes played
40/44 (91%) passes completed
2/3 tackles won
2 interceptions
8 clearances
4 recoveries
4/8 ground duels won
The 19-year-old was excellent on his full Premier League debut, fitting into the left centre-back role like a glove, while proving to be a calm and composed figure in defence.
Canvot, who joined Palace in a £23million move from Toulouse, is inarguably a long-term replacement in defence and could easily see his value skyrocket.
He may even replace Glasner’s star defender, as sources have told Football Insider that Liverpool will push to sign Guehi in January after missing out on him in the summer.
