Crystal Palace to be tested with ‘bids’ as Arsenal swoop for Michael Olise

Arsenal and Man United may struggle to sign Michael Olise this summer after Crystal Palace’s “excellent” uptick in form.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed that the Eagles may attempt to keep hold of Olise, 22, after new manager Oliver Glasner’s implementation of “massive” change at Selhurst Park.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (22 April) that the Gunners and the Red Devils are in the race to sign the winger this summer as they plan attacking reinforcements.

Hamstring injuries have forced the France under-21 star into just 16 league appearances this season, but he has still notched seven goals and four assists including a goal and an assist in Palace’s 5-2 thrashing of West Ham United earlier this month (21 April).

Arsenal and Man United may struggle to sign Olise – Robinson

Robinson admitted that Palace will likely be tested with bids for the prolific attacker, but claimed they may now try to keep their top stars in the wake of their new-look set-up under Glasner.

“I don’t think an injury, unless it’s a recurring issue in the same place, would ever put a team off of signing a player,” he told Football Insider.

“Olise has been excellent when he has played and you’ve seen his impact.

“The thing for Palace is where they want to go as a club.

“With Oliver Glasner coming in, there’s been a massive change in form and to their style of play.

“The biggest credit you can pay Glasner is that a manager does not get a job when the team is doing well.

“But he’s come in and now Palace are a good watch.

“The board may look at that and try to keep their best players, including Olise, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi.

“Whether they can do that or not is tough – they will always be tested with bids.

“Olise has top suitors out there for him – Arsenal, Man United.

“Any of the top six would take him, it just depends on Palace’s ambitions.

“He’s a top player, his readiness both on and off the ball is exceptional and he will be a very good addition to any team.”
