Crystal Palace to target Kasper Hogh transfer amid Jean-Philippe Mateta exit latest
Bodo/Glimt star Kasper Hogh could be the perfect striker target for Crystal Palace this summer as they prepare to lose Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The Eagles almost lost the Frenchman in the recent January transfer window, only for him to fail a medical at AC Milan in the final stages before the deadline.
Former Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider last week that Mateta’s value won’t decrease this summer, despite the frontman entering the final year of his contract.
That looks set to leave the Eagles with cash to spend in order to strengthen their squad, and they could launch a surprise move for Hogh, who has been an emerging star of Bodo/Glimt’s stunning Champions League run.

Crystal Palace to gamble on Kasper Hogh to strengthen striker depth
Palace have already signed the direct replacement for Mateta, as they secured a deal to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves for £48million in January.
However, further striker depth will undoubtedly be needed at Selhurst Park, especially if Eddie Nketiah is shown the door after heavy speculation surrounding his future this winter.
Hogh could represent a gamble worth taking for Palace, who have several success stories within their current squad who have been plucked from some of European football’s lesser trodden backgrounds.
| Competition | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Eliteserien | 28 | 17 | 5 |
| Champions League | 12 | 5 | 3 |
| Total | 40 | 22 | 8 |
The 25-year-old is arguably deserving of a chance in one of the ‘big five’ leagues after a prolific 2025 campaign that saw him net 17 goals from 28 games in the Norwegian top flight.
However, it has been his goals in Bodo/Glimt’s Champions League campaign that have seen him attract attention, and he netted a goal and two assists in the first leg of their play-off triumph over Inter Milan.
Hogh has been at the centre of his team’s remarkable success story, and it is bound to have seen Premier League sides sit up and take notice.

Palace have impressed with their recruitment in recent years, and Hogh is surely another emerging star that they would back themselves to turn into a top-level player.
Hogh pricetag development leaves door open for Crystal Palace
Football Insider revealed on Friday that Celtic are set to be priced out of a move for Hogh this summer, with his valuation set to skyrocket after his team’s progression in Europe.
Norwich City were also interested in the frontman in the summer, but with January’s £10m asking price set to jump again, it is highly likely that they will also be unable to secure his signature.
That leaves the door open for a Premier League side to potentially swoop in and target the Norway international, and Palace could be the perfect club to take a gamble on him.
There looks likely to be a major turnover at Selhurst ahead of next term, and that could represent the ideal time for them to try and bed a new striker into their group.
