Crystal Palace’s response to Liverpool interest in Marc Guehi revealed
Crystal Palace are doing everything they can to keep Jean-Philippe Mateta at the club this summer despite ongoing interest from Man United.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have said about the 28-year-old’s future at Selhurst Park in the remainder of the transfer window as well as the latest on Liverpool’s Marc Guehi plans.
AC Milan are also believed to be keeping an eye on the striker, while Ruben Amorim is prioritising the addition of a number number nine.
This comes after former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 12 June that Man United are keeping tabs on Mateta as Palace continue in contract talks.
Liverpool had also been linked with a move for the Frenchman after holding talks with his representatives in Paris last week as interest continues to grow.
However, Football Insider revealed on 20 July that Liverpool are now unlikely to sign Mateta as they close in on a mega-money deal to sign Hugo Ekitike.

Man United eye Jean-Philippe Mateta after Palace exit decision
Mateta remains a crucial part of Oliver Glasner’s plans at Selhurst Park despite the interest from the likes of Man United, who are determined to land a new striker this summer.
Brown told Football Insider last month that Palace are confident of keeping Mateta alongside a number of his teammates who have also been linked with moves.
O’Rourke explained that the Eagles are determined to keep their best players at the club amid fears of a “disaster” should the likes of Mateta, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi all leave.
“There’s a number of clubs who are looking at Mateta,” he told Football Insider.
“He had a great season for Palace last season, there’s no getting away from that.
“With 17 goals in all competitions, he obviously played a key role in them winning the FA Cup.
“It’s not just Liverpool being linked, you’ve got Manchester United being credited with an interest in him as well as AC Milan who have been looking at him.
“Palace will be doing everything they can to keep hold of Mateta.
“They’re shutting down the hatches at Palace with all of the top clubs looking at their best players with the continues links with Eze and Arsenal, Guehi and Liverpool.
“Palace can’t afford to lose too many big players in this window, it would be a disaster for them.
“So they’ll be doing everything they can to keep hold of Jean-Philippe Mateta.
“He’s still got two years left on his contract, so Palace are in a strong position to keep hold of him.”

Douglas Luiz update emerges as United race Everton and Forest
Alongside their attempts to sign a new striker, United have also set their sights on strengthening in midfield, with Douglas Luiz now on their radar.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 15 July that Man United have registered their interest in Luiz and are keen to beat rivals to his signature this summer.
Everton are also keen on the 27-year-old, who has four years remaining on his current contract but could leave Italy with a return to the Premier League a possibility.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in March that Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Luiz after keeping tabs on his progress as his agent continues to offer his services.
