Cult hero pipped to the top in five best Tottenham stars in 2008 League Cup triumph

5. Aaron Lennon

Tottenham appearances: 364 – Goals: 30

Back in 2008, Tottenham had two very different wingers on either flank, and both played their part in helping the club to their League Cup success.

However, while Steed Malbranque’s guile and trickery deserves a mention, it was the pure pace and directness from speed machine Aaron Lennon which played the biggest role out of the pair.

The England international was electric against the Blues and although his final ball may have let him down, he was a constant thorn in the side of Avram Grant’s men.

It was his cross which led to Wayne Bridge conceding a penalty with a handball, resulting in the equalising goal, and it was this moment which was the catalyst for the game to turn on its head.
