Dan Ashworth tells Newcastle United ‘I’m going’ as Man United terms agreed – Exclusive
Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth has agreed terms on a move to Man United, sources have told Football Insider.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Ashworth, 52, has told the Magpies “I’m going” – following an approach from the Old Trafford club.
Ashworth was only appointed at St James’ Park in 2022 but has already agreed a move to Man United.
It is believed the transfer chief will now need to work an extensive period of gardening leave before starting work with the Red Devils.
Man United’s move for Ashworth comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to buy a minority stake in the club was approved by the Premier League and Football Association.

Ratcliffe agreed a deal in December to buy a 25% stake worth £1.2billion – and his INEOS company will take control of football operations at Old Trafford.
Man City chief Omar Berrada has already been appointed and will join United as the club’s new CEO in due course.
Football Insider revealed in November 2023 that INEOS are planning to sack football director John Murtough once the new investment is completed.

Ashworth has previously worked for Brighton and England – helping make the former into a force in the Premier League in recent years.
He has also brought the likes of Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon to St James’ Park after his Newcastle appointment.
