Dan Burn ‘not happy’ at Newcastle United after what pundit just spotted

Newcastle United defender Dan Burn “not happy” about his performance against Brighton last weekend.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider on Newcastle’s defeat to the Seagulls, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie said Eddie Howe has a “winning team” but not the depth of squad to compete for trophies this term.

The north east giants have won just one game so far this season, most recently falling victim to a 3-1 defeat to high fliers Brighton.

The Magpies enjoyed a hugely impressive Premier League campaign last term, finishing fourth in the table and securing automatic qualification for the Champions League group stages.

Despite massive investment into the squad thanks to the new owners, Newcastle brought in four permanent new arrivals.

Sandro Tonali made the move from AC Milan with Harvey Barnes joining from Leicester City, Tino Livramento swapped Southampton for St James’ Park and 18-year-old Yankuba Minteh joined from Danish side Odense Boldklub.

Fellow youngster Lewis Hall has made the switch from Chelsea to the north east on a loan deal for the current campaign.

McAvennie doesn’t think the side have done enough to compete on all fronts.

I think it is going to be tough for them this season,” he told Football Insider.

I do not think they have got the squad to go and win trophies. I think they have got a team that can go and win something but I do not think they have the squad.

[Dan] Burn got pulled all over the place like a rag doll last weekend and he won’t be happy about that because he has been outstanding since he arrived at Newcastle.
