Dan James: Marcelo Bielsa has ‘big problem’ after Leeds update – Mills

Marcelo Bielsa has a “big problem” as Leeds United may need to rely on Dan James to be their main striker between now and the end of the season.

That is according to ex-Whites and England right-back Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after James’ fine performance in the 3-3 draw with Aston Villa yesterday (9 February).

The Wales international scored a brace at Villa Park to earn his side a vital point.

As quoted by Leeds Live ahead of the game on Monday (7 February), Bielsa revealed Patrick Bamford had not started his recovery from injury and has no return date.

“Especially with the circumstances and the way that it happened, the way they came back from that was exceptional really,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“At 3-1 down, Leeds were up against it and Coutinho was running the show at that point. To come back from that and earn a point shows real character and a point is a really good point.

“Leeds are still trying to find a centre-forward and who is best in what position. It’s not easy to do that.

“It was a vital point because if you lose that going into the Everton game, a loss wouldn’t be so bad. If you lose two back-to-back the pressure really is on.

“Bielsa might have to rely on James as a striker now. That’s the biggest problem, what other options does he have?

“We know Dan James has got a pace, he’s going to close people down. Maybe he’s the sort of player who can fill in and do what Bamford was doing.”

In other news, Leeds United could be relegated after an update on an ‘absolutely brilliant’ star this week.
