Dane Scarlett could join League One club after ‘brilliant’ update – Tottenham expert
Dane Scarlett should join a League One side this summer after signing a new Tottenham contract.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 25 May, Tottenham announced Scarlett, 18, had signed a new long-term deal.
The forward made seven first-team appearances for Spurs during the recently completed season, most recently as a second-half substitute in the 4-0 win over Leeds United on 26 February.
Wenham claims Scarlett is ready for his first loan move but insists he should not be sent to the Championship.
“This is his first proper contract where he is being paid adult money,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s a fair reward and I’m delighted for him, it’s brilliant news for then club.. Conte has made reference to his training and how hard he works when he’s up there with the first team.
“He’s always learning and looking to improve. Let’s now hope we can get a loan move sorted for him before the start of pre-season so he can have the full summer with whoever he joins.
“I saw reports that Preston North End are after him. Personally, I would rather he went to a League One side.
“I think he would play every week in League One whereas I don’t think he will be afforded that opportunity in the Championship.
“I wouldn’t mind him going to Cheltenham, they really looked after Kion Etete last season.”

Scarlett made four appearances in the Europa Conference League during the 2021-22 campaign.
His other two senior appearances came in the FA Cup.
