Dane Scarlett: Tottenham tipped to U-turn on approach after ‘brilliant’ Conte reveal – expert

Paul Robinson suspects Tottenham will resist future loan offers for Dane Scarlett in favour of continuing to develop him in north London.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one suggested Spurs will adopt a different approach with the 18-year-old to that taken with Troy Parrott.

Scarlett has been regularly named in matchday squads this season but has just 10 minutes action to his name.

As quoted by Football.London (20 March), Antonio Conte revealed he is seeing a “lot of improvement” in the centre-forward.

He predicted that Scarlett has “a brilliant future” ahead of him if he continues to work hard.

When asked if Spurs should adopt a different approach to that taken with Parrott, Robinson told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs:

“Troy Parrott’s development has slowed somewhat. He’s yet to work under Conte though.

“Spurs have always had the problem of who replaces Kane when he’s not available. What is the answer?

“Well, I’m sure Scarlett is going to get more and more minutes under Conte. He has what it takes to be a Premier League player and it sounds like the manager is going to give him opportunities.

“There is talk about him maybe going out on loan next season to get some games but he could be a real asset for Spurs in the short-term. He’s had an impact.”

Parrott has enjoyed mixed success since leaving Spurs on loan.

This season he has contributed five goals and six assists in 34 League One appearances for MK Dons.
