Daniel Farke rages at Luton Town’s sideline antics as Leeds United slip again

Daniel Farke was in no mood to joke around with Luton Town as Leeds United were handed another blow in the race for promotion.

Farke is under serious pressure to take Leeds back to the Premier League, but with Sheffield United and Burnley both aiming to finish in the automatic spots this season, the race is really heating up.

The Whites went into the clash on Saturday, 5 April, following back-to-back league draws, which eventually saw Illan Meslier stripped of being Leeds’ first-choice goalkeeper.

And with Leeds unable to take three points from Kenilworth Road, the team fell to third in the Championship table, with promotion to the Premier League no longer a guarantee.

Luton Town get on Daniel Farke’s nerves in closing stages

With Leeds only wanting a victory against the Hatters, and nothing less, Farke’s side were pushing for a winner in the final 20 minutes, with all the possession and momentum in their favour.

However, Matt Bloomfield‘s tactics began to slow the game down, with Millenic Alli, Lasse Nordas and Lamine Fanne all being subbed on, but there seemed to be confusion about which players were coming off.

Of course, Farke saw this as a tactic to ruin his team’s momentum on the pitch, and the German did not take likely to the sideline antics at Kenilworth Road.

Speaking live via Sky Sports‘ Main Event [5 April, 2:05pm], Don Goodman said: “Daniel Farke is getting a little bit cross at how long this is all taking here.”

Commentator Jonathan Oakes added: “There’s no doubt it will disrupt the rhythm here for Leeds,” and it is safe to say that Farke was not the slightest bit impressed.

Daniel Farke at risk of being sacked by 49ers Enterprises

Football Insider verdict

49ers Enterprises will be under pressure to part ways with Farke if he cannot deliver promotion this season, and after yet another draw, that fear might be about to become reality at Elland Road.

Taking just 11 points from six games is not the form of a team ready to win the Championship title, or even finish second in the division, and fans will not be ready for a play-off battle.

The Whites’ dreams of playing Premier League football last season were crushed by Southampton, having reached the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium before losing 1-0.

Defeat saw the likes of Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville all departing Elland Road in the summer, and the club cannot afford a repeat happening this summer.

With Farke reacting on the touchline to Luton’s antics so angrily, he knows how much pressure is building on his shoulders, and only getting back to winning ways can relieve that burning feeling.
