Daniel Levy has ‘had enough’ amid ‘big’ Tottenham claim – expert
Tottenham have a “big problem” with recruitment.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton said the Lilywhites should have spent big after the Champions League final in 2019 but Daniel Levy felt Mauricio Pochettino “had enough” to kick on.
Spurs confirmed the appointment of former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as their new manager as they rebuild after an uninspiring Premier League campaign.
On Saturday (17 June), the London club announced the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus.
The 23-year-old joined the Lilywhites on an 18-month loan in January 2022 that included an option to buy and he has now put pen to paper on a permanent deal in the capital running until 2028.
Chairman Daniel Levy has not been best known for giving managers big budgets to spend on players but new boss Postecoglou has proven his ability to operate to limited funds and unearth hidden gems, the likes of Reo Hatate and Jota at Celtic.
When asked if Postecoglou will be able to convince Spurs to loosen the purse strings, Hutton told Football Insider: “Over the time they have spent money.
“Let’s not kid ourselves they have spent a lot of money.

“But if you go back to the [Mauricio] Pochettino era, when they got beaten in the Champions League, if he was given the money to reinvest then, I think they become a better team but Daniel Levy said, ‘no you’ve had enough’.
“This is the issue, their recruitment has not been good enough and that is their biggest problem.“
