‘Daniel Levy in race to appoint new Tottenham manager as offer submitted to 47-yr-old’

Daniel Levy faces a race against time if he’s to appoint his first-choice replacment for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur.

Postecoglou‘s future in North London remains shrouded in mystery as Spurs approach the end of their worst-ever Premier League season, with the Australian dependent on the Europa League to save his job.

Tottenham have one foot in the Europa League final and lead Bodo/Glimt 3-1 on aggregate ahead of their semi-final second leg, and winning the decider would guarantee Champions League football next term.

However, former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Postecoglou will be sacked regardless of Tottenham’s European progress, but it remains to be seen who will succeed him.

Tottenham target a ‘leading candidate’ for Saudi Arabia move

Several Premier League-proven managers have been linked with the potential vacancy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with moves for Andoni Iraola, Thomas Frank and Fulham boss Marco Silva all mooted.

Silva, however, could leave Craven Cottage before Spurs can pounce, as talkSPORT reported on 7 May that Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal see him as a “leading candidate” to succeed the sacked Jorge Jesus.

The 47-year-old is “stalling” over a new deal in West London and has been sent a “non-binding” offer to join Al-Hilal, who are Saudi Arabia’s most valuable club and will contest this summer’s Club World Cup.

Silva is “open” to a move which would reunite him with his former striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, and though Al-Hilal are yet to make a formal approach to Fulham, the Portuguese’s head could yet be turned.

Tottenham risk Marco Silva snub amid Postecoglou indecision

Tottenham may have just a handful of matches left to play this term, but Football Insider revealed on 2 May that Levy is still yet to come to a decision on Postecoglou’s future and could yet go either way.

Robinson also told Football Insider in March that the uncertainty over Postecoglou has cost Tottenham valuable time in preparation for the transfer window, with Spurs set to finish 16th in the Premier League.

However, with Silva seemingly on the outer at Fulham and keen to listen to Tottenham, the onus is on Levy to decide Postecoglou’s future as soon as possible and then turn his full focus to an approach for the highly-rated Portuguese.
