Danilo Pereira reacts to key Ibrox announcement as Rangers confirm contract news
Rangers forward Danilo Pereira has reacted to a new announcement from Rangers about a fresh contract extension.
Rangers endured a trophyless season last time out, and Danilo struggled to make much of an impact under Philippe Clement or interim boss Barry Ferguson
The 26-year-old forward moved to Scotland in 2023 from Feyenoord, but he is yet to reach 50 appearances for the Ibrox side due to a mixture of injury and form issues.
Former Southampton boss Russell Martin is now at the helm for Rangers, and the club will want to give him to best chance of success next season, but could face losing a key man with former scout Mick Brown recently telling Football Insider that Hamza Igamane is closing in on a move to Ligue 1 outfit Lille.
Igamane’s departure is likely to hand Danilo more chances to prove himself next term, and as they ramp up their summer business, Rangers have recently moved to confirm a new contract extension to one of their players.

Rangers make Kieran Wright contract extension announcement
Rangers have been busy making new signings in recent weeks, with Joe Rothwell signed from Bournemouth and Max Aarons also brought in on loan from the Cherries, but their recent announcement has seen the club focus on an existing player.
The Gers took to Instagram on Thursday (3 July) to announce that back-up goalkeeper Kieran Wright had penned fresh terms at Ibrox, saying: “We can today confirm that Kieran Wright has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.”
Their announcement was reacted to by Danilo, who left a like, while former player and current Birmingham City winger Scott Wright also followed suit.
26-year-old Wright came through the Rangers academy as a youngster, but he is still yet to make his first-team debut for his boyhood club, having been out on loan over nine separate spells, most recently at Scottish Championship club Airdrieonians.
Rangers have had an encouraging transfer window but still need to do more
Football Insider verdict
Rangers finished last season in second place for the fourth year running, 17 points behind fierce rivals Celtic, and so a change clearly needed to be made in terms of the managerial hotseat, with Clement sacked before the campaign was even out.
New boss Martin has already been able to attract the likes of Aarons and Rothwell to Ibrox, both of whom will improve their starting eleven, while highly-rated Peterborough United defender Emmanuel Fernandez has also joined to bolster their defensive ranks.
Matchday | Against | Home or Away | Date |
1 | Motherwell | Away | 2 August |
2 | Dundee | Home | 9 August |
3 | St Mirren | Away | 23 August |
4 | Celtic | Home | 31 August |
5 | Hearts | Home | 13 September |
With that said, there is still undoubtedly more to be done in the market, and Football Insider recently revealed that the Gers remain in advanced talks with Leicester over a deal to sign Conor Coady
Former scout Brown also revealed to Football Insider on 30 June that Rangers have set their sights on agreeing a deal to sign Jamie Vardy, and the chance to play European football in Glasgow is thought to be a big draw for the 38-year-old.
Rangers clearly have plans to be a lot busier in the transfer market this summer, and that will encourage fans who will want to see the club’s chiefs invest to back Martin and close last season’s gap between them and Celtic in 2025/26.
