Danny Rohl ready to ‘sacrifice’ Nedim Bajrami in Rangers summer exodus

Danny Rohl has already decided that Rangers winger Nedim Bajrami will be sold this summer in an effort to trim the squad, sources have told Football Insider.

The German has kept the 27-year-old on the fringes of his group since he stepped into the dugout at Ibrox back in October, and he has already made it clear to the wideman that he will not be a key part of his plans for 2026-27.

Bajrami is also ready to pack his bags and move elsewhere, with sources indicating that his exit is set to come as part of an exodus of some of the Gers’ squad players.

Rohl is keen to offload some fringe players in a bid to make room for new additions, and Bajrami is among those who are set to be “sacrificed” ahead of next season.

Rangers’ transfer plans are set to see them try to strengthen their starting XI, and that will result in cuts being made elsewhere in the group.

Who else could be sold by Rangers this summer?

Bajrami has been firmly on the periphery at Ibrox since Rohl took the reins, as he has started just two Scottish Premiership games under the German’s guidance so far.

That looks unlikely to change any time soon, with the Albanian way down the pecking order in the wide areas, and the club already planning ahead for next season.

Rangers are set to see several of their squad players return to their parent clubs at the end of their loan deals, with the likes of Max Aarons, Derek Cornelius and Nasser Djiga all seemingly set for that fate.

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Rangers will sell Oscar Cortes this summer, with his current loan spell with Huracan containing an option for the Argentine side to buy him.

Danilo’s time at Ibrox is also expected to end in a similar fashion, with his loan stint at NEC Nijmegen also potentially set to be turned permanent.

Andrew Cavenagh prepared to boost Ibrox transfer kitty

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that the money generated from the sale of Cortes this summer is set to be reinvested straight back into the squad, and that will also be the case with Bajrami.

Andrew Cavenagh and the rest of the club hierarchy are committed to re-establishing Rangers back at the top of Scottish football as quickly as possible and the footballing side of the club is very much the top priority at the moment.

The Gers are also aware that Champions League qualification would mean that significant reinforcements would be needed ahead of next season, to ensure that they can compete and make the most of the revenue provided by that competition.

Bajrami is expected to be one of the first players to pay the price of the club’s newfound ambition this summer, but it is unlikely that he will be the last as Rangers look to work the transfer market in their favour.
