Daryl Dike bids emotional farewell after West Brom confirm exit news
West Brom have already begun their preparations for the new Championship season with three key departures now confirmed.
West Brom face an uncertain summer after a ninth-placed finish in 2024–25, which saw them led by four different management teams and ultimately fall short of the play-offs in the final weeks of the season.
Tony Mowbray was sacked with two games to go after a run of just one win in eight saw West Brom drop from fifth to tenth in the table, and a final-day win under James Morrison wasn’t enough to revive them.
Morrison’s spell in interim charge will be short lived as Shilen Patel and the Albion hierarchy scour the Championship and beyond for a new head coach, but further churn is expected in the playing squad.

West Brom wave goodbye to veteran trio
The summer transfer window will be difficult to navigate after Patel confirmed a new £33.9million loss in their most recent accounting period, and several players are already on their way out of The Hawthorns.
Albion posted on their Instagram page (20 May) with a message to out-of-contract trio John Swift, Grady Diangana and Semi Ajayi, all of whom will depart on 30 June alongside 11 youth team players.
West Brom’s post simply said; “Thank you, lads”, and striker Daryl Dike – who has missed much of the past three seasons through injury – left a comment of a ‘teary-eyed’ emoji to show that he’ll miss the trio.
West Brom to adopt sell-to-buy transfer policy
Albion’s three senior out of contract players won’t struggle to attract new clubs this summer, and Middlesbrough could yet re-ignite their interest in Swift after also missing out on the play-offs.
West Brom will certainly be concerned as the vultures circle over members of their current squad who could attract cut-price transfer fees, with ever-present right-back Darnell Furlong on QPR’s shortlist.
Football Insider also revealed in March that Everton are “well-placed” to agree a deal for long-term target Tom Fellows, 12 months after Albion rejected several top-flight bids for their most valuable asset.
Blackburn are another cash-strapped side who joined Albion in failing to reach the play-offs, and as they and West Brom go toe-to-toe for Bobby Wales, Albion fans will be hopeful for a rare slice of good news.
