Andy Carroll is set to return to the West Ham squad for the Hammers’ next match against Watford, according to co-owner David Gold.

The 28-year-old target man missed his chance to shine in front of England manager Gareth Southgate at the London Stadium on Saturday, as the Hammers drew 2-2 with West Brom.

Gold replied to a fan on his personal Twitter account, stating that he is “confident” former Liverpool star Carroll will be fit to face Watford on February 25.

West Ham’s number nine missed the game after being withdrawn in the 3-1 victory over Southampton with a groin injury.

Scoring four goals in his last four outings, Three Lions manager Southgate was in the audience to watch Carroll as well as the likes of Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell and Mark Noble.

But the target man was not even named on the substitute’s bench by manager Slaven Bilic. as the Hammers look to take no risks with their injury-prone striker’s fitness.

However, fans will be delighted to hear that the forward is set to return to the side to face Watford, as they look to continue their resurgent Premier League form.

Since moving permanently to east London from Liverpool back in the summer of 2013 for £15million, Carroll has scored 22 goals in 68 Premier League encounters.

The Geordie striker will be hoping that he can return to fitness in time for England’s next matches against Lithuania and Germany in March, as he looks to make his first national appearance since October 2012.

In other West Ham news, this Manchester City star could finally end Bilic’s woes at right-back.
