David Moyes and Ruben Amorim had the same instant reaction to Idrissa Gueye slapping Michael Keane
Idrissa Gana Gueye was shown a straight red card for slapping Everton teammate Michael Keane in Monday night’s 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Despite going down to 10 men after just 13 minutes at Old Trafford, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s first-half winner secured all three points for the Toffees.
The midfielder curled a right-footed finish into the top corner just before the half-hour mark, helping Everton to a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
Joshua Zirkzee has several big chances for Man United towards the end of the contest, but Ruben Amorim’s side were unable to break down the depleted Merseyside outfit.

David Moyes responds to Idrissa Gana Gueye red card
Gueye was dismissed for striking teammate Keane in the face, an extraordinary incident which has only been seen a handful of times before in the Premier League.
Even after being given his marching orders by referee Tony Harrington, the Senegalese international had to be dragged away by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
After the game, Gueye apologised to Keane for his conduct, but Toffees boss David Moyes was seemingly unbothered by the bust-up.
Speaking in his post-match interview, the Scot said: “I quite like it when my players have a bit of a brawl and a fight with each other because it shows they care.
“It shows they want to do better and that there are demands on players. If we hadn’t had that in the game (against Man United) for long periods, putting each other under pressure to do the right thing, we might not have gotten a result.”
Ruben Amorim urges players to ‘fight each other’
Amorim was in full agreement with his opposite number, and even went as far as to say that he “hopes his players fight each other” if they lose the ball.
Speaking to the media in his own post-match press conference, the Portuguese manager revealed that he disagreed with the sending off.
Amorim said: “I hope my players, when they lose the ball, they fight each other. They cannot get sent off, but that is a good feeling.
“Fighting doesn’t mean that they don’t like each other. I don’t agree with the sending off. We can fight with our teammates. I know it’s violent conduct but I don’t agree with it.”
