David Moyes’ pal: West Ham ‘secretly’ thrilled amid ‘unbelievable’ claim
West Ham have an “unbelievable” chance of winning the Europa League and David Moyes will be “secretly” thrilled they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals.
That is the view of ex-England defender and friend of Moyes Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after West Ham’s famous 3-0 victory over Lyon last night (14 April).
They beat the Ligue 1 side 4-1 on aggregate to set up a semi-final with Eintracht Frankfurt who beat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
As quoted by the Daily Mail yesterday, Moyes insisted the two-legged tie against the German side will not be easy but his side will “give whoever a game”.
“The competition is unbelievably winnable for West Ham now,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I said all along that if they got through the last time against Sevilla, which was incredibly difficult, and past this one then against Barcelona they were out.
“You can’t get cocky and you can’t get ahead of yourselves but you’re now two wins away. A win and a draw gets you through and then you win the final. You’re then in the Champions League.
“They are three good performances from winning a trophy and getting in the Champions League, that has to be their priority.
“Frankfurt have done incredibly well to beat Barcelona but over two legs, can they produce that sort of performance against?

“Realistically West Ham will be secretly thinking ‘What a chance we’ve got’.
“Then it’s either RB Leipzig or Rangers and they would fancy their chances against both of those.”
