David Moyes sack: West Ham board make up their minds – Sources

West Ham boss Moyes facing ‘toxic’ struggle amid sack latest

The West Ham board have not changed their stance on David Moyes’ job security despite the 6-0 home humiliation against Arsenal on Sunday (11 February), sources have told Football Insider.

Moyes’ side were 4-0 down at half-time at the London Stadium – prompting Irons fans to leave in their droves.

A portion of the West Ham fanbase called for the Scot to be sacked as the result unfolded – even with the Londoners sitting eighth in the Premier League table.

However, it is believed that Moyes still has enough credit in the bank with the ownership after a successful few seasons in the hot seat.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the danger for the ex-Man United boss is the fanbase turning “toxic” if poor results continue.

Fan backlash could force the club owners to change their plans.

West Ham are winless in their last five Premier League games and bowed out of the FA Cup against Bristol City after a third-round replay.

Nevertheless, the Irons are just one point adrift of a European place after a strong festive period that saw them beat Arsenal and Man United in the space of five days.

Moyes is out of contract at the London Stadium in June but has remained bullish about the prospect of him remaining at the club for an extended period.

“We will get it [the contract] done, I don’t see many problems about it”, he said in December.

The Scot is in his second spell at the club and won the Europa Conference League last season.

West Ham, who will play Europa League knockout stage football from next month, are next in action against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (17 February).
