David Moyes told to pull U-turn on quitting West Ham after source’s reveal – pundit
Alan Hutton has suggested David Moyes should stay on at West Ham despite the east London club’s “difficult season”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender claimed the Irons are capable of “moving forward” with the veteran coach at the helm.
Sources have revealed to this site that 60-year-old Moyes is set to end his three-season tenure at West Ham after losing two key allies in trusted assistants Alan Irvine and Stuart Pearce recently.
Moyes has steadied the ship after a calamitous start to the season, with West Ham now safe from relegation and on the verge of lifting their first European trophy ahead of their Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina next month (7 June).
It took until 1 October for the Irons to get their first Premier League win of the season – a 2-0 home win against Wolves – with many suggesting they could go down.
Hutton insisted Moyes has done a good job this season, especially considering the volume of games and the mid-season World Cup.
He told Football Insider: “It’s been a difficult season.“
“They’re now in a European final. I know people dismiss it but for me, it’s still a European final – why would you not go all-out to win it?
“They’re safe from relegation now, and the season could well end on a high.
“Is it time for a change of manager? I’m not so sure.
“Who would they bring in to do a better job?
“West Ham have struggled with the extra games last season and the World Cup making it harder to get a run together.
“But they’ve got a great squad which is definitely capable of moving forward under David Moyes.”

While his long-term future remains unclear, Moyes will be focussing on the club’s remaining fixtures this term.
West Ham face an away trip to Leicester on the final day of this season (May 28), knowing a victory would sink the Foxes.
