David Moyes will be ‘concerned’ after what pundit has seen at West Ham – ‘all of a sudden’

Paddy Kenny has claimed West Ham boss David Moyes will be “concerned” about his side’s start to the new season despite a “difficult” set of early fixtures.

The former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Irons could leave themselves too much work to do if they continue their barren spell.

West Ham, who sit bottom of the table, have lost all three of their league engagements thus far this term and are yet to score a goal in the Premier League.

They can secure their place in the Europa Conference League group stage on Thursday as long as Viborg can’t match last week’s 3-1 home win at the London Stadium.

Kenny suggested the Londoners will not want to rely on success in that competition to secure another season of European football.

He told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild: “After the season they had last season, I’m sure they didn’t expect to start like this.

“It’s been a difficult start, Man City and Brighton – but I’m sure there’s a bit of concern there for David Moyes.

“It’s been a disappointing start and I’m sure the fans will be desperate to win as soon as possible, because if they don’t win in the next couple – all of a sudden, it’s a long way up to those European spots.

“Then you’ve got to rely on yourselves doing the business in the Europa Conference League to have a chance of qualifying for Europe again.”

West Ham have made seven summer additions as Moyes looks to bulk up his squad.

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri joined the club on Tuesday (23 August).
