David Prutton predicts Leeds v Brighton, delivers verdict on Monk

By Amir Mir

David Prutton believes Leeds will record a 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday evening at Elland Road.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton stated that Whites manager Garry Monk is very “studious” and “meticulous” in the manner in which he approaches the game.

The former midfielder compared Monk to his managerial counterpart, Chris Hughton, who will be in the opposite dugout at the weekend.

Hughton has guided the Seagulls to second place in the table while Monk’s team is sitting in a play-off spot.

They are set to meet on Saturday in what will be a mouthwatering tie between the two promotion hopefuls.

Former Nottingham Forest man, Prutton backed the game to have plenty of goals as he delivered his verdict on both managers.

“It’s an intriguing game,” Prutton told Sky Sports. “There is a real buzz around Leeds at the moment.

“That’s what you would expect to hear and I think there are similarities between Chris and Garry Monk in the way they approach the game.

“They are both studious and meticulous and I don’t think there will be anything to separate them on Saturday – a tea-time feast! It’s a good test for both sides.”

A defeat for the home team could see the promotion chasing pack close the gap on the Yorkshire club in the table.

After this encounter, the international break will kick in, but Monk will have yet another tough Championship tie when the league matches resume next month.

They face Reading on April 1, knowing two defeats in their next two matches could possibly see dent their hopes of finishing in the top six.

This would be a big blow to the club because they have contested for promotion and sat in a play-off position for the majority of the season.
