‘David Sullivan has sacrificed £30m’ – West Ham fans fume after deal agreed

David Sullivan has sacrificed £30million as West Ham fans have been left fuming after a deal has been agreed.

The Hammers endured a challenging season after finishing 14th in the Premier League in the 2024-25 campaign.

West Ham are expected to undergo a big overhaul this summer as they look to compete higher up the table next season.

It has been widely reported some players would be required to move on over the coming weeks to improve Graham Potter’s budget.

Mohammed Kudus looks set to be the club’s major sale of the summer window as he’s now closing in on a move to Tottenham.

Football Insider revealed on 2 July West Ham had rejected Spurs’ opening bid for Kudus.

Thomas Frank’s side tabled a £50million offer for the 24-year-old, but the Hammers insisted a higher fee would be required.

Tottenham have now agreed to sign Kudus for £55million, with a medical expected to take place on Thursday (10 July).

West Ham agree cut-price Mohammed Kudus deal

Kudus is West Ham’s most-sellable asset behind Jarrod Bowen, but the club are adamant their captain will not be leaving the London Stadium.

It was expected Kudus would depart east London this summer for a much higher fee than Tottenham have agreed to pay.

The Ghana international, who is under contract until 2028 after signing from Ajax for £38million two years ago, has a release clause that is active for the first 10 days of July.

Under the terms of the clause, the winger could join European sides for £80million, Premier League clubs for £85million and Saudi teams for £120million.

It’s come as no surprise to see the Hammers haven’t received an offer beyond £80million for Kudus, forcing London Stadium chiefs to entertain much lower bids.

West Ham board under pressure after Mohammed Kudus sale

Kudus endured a challenging campaign after registering just five goals and four assists in 35 appearances last season.

While West Ham fans largely accept the winger’s exit is necessary to boost the summer budget, they are fuming Sullivan has accepted an offer £30million below his release clause.

The fact rivals Tottenham are the club benefiting from the cut-price deal has only added fuel to the fire.

The Hammers board will now be under pressure to get their transfer business right for the rest of the window as they simply can’t afford another poor season.
