‘David Sullivan has told Nuno to stop playing West Ham star’: Fans rage over latest sack news

Nuno Espirito Santo has not enjoyed a successful spell at West Ham to date.

The former Nottingham Forest manager has only won two games in 12 since his appointment, with the Hammers stuck in the relegation zone.

As a result, many West Ham fans were calling for Nuno to be sacked after their 1-0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

Now, it appears that they may get their wish, with talkSPORT on 28 December confirming that Nuno’s job is under threat at the London Stadium if results do not improve.

Nevertheless, many Hammers fans are far from impressed with his development as David Sullivan considers rolling the dice once again.

West Ham fans believe that Nuno should remain at the London Stadium

As it stands, West Ham are being tipped to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

The Hammers are five points from safety, with a terrible goal difference compared to 17th-place Nottingham Forest.

Therefore, with the East London club without a win in their last seven matches, many would think that fans would embrace a change in the dugout.

However, since the news broke, supporters have been quick to defend Nuno, believing that he is their best chance of survival.

Many fans were also quick to point the root of the East London club’s issues at the ownership, believing that sacking Nuno will change little overall.

In talkSPORT’s report it says that West Ham’s board are baffled by Nuno’s failure to play an out-and-out striker up front, with Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta being preferred there instead.

One fan has a theory, with @T3MP__ saying: “Sullivan has been telling him to limit playing Wilson to avoid paying his extortionate wage whenever he plays for the club.”

Nuno’s record at West Ham explained

While Nuno’s record has been poor at West Ham, it is perhaps worse than many fans realise.

As it stands, the manager is averaging 0.77 points per game, the worst of any coach in the Premier League in West Ham’s history.

Even Graham Potter had a better record, averaging 1 point per match during his brief spell at the club.

Therefore, a change may well be needed, with Nuno clearly underperforming in terms of results and expectations so far.

Games against Brighton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest could well decide Nuno’s fate, with the clashes being crucial to the Hammers’ survival this season.

Failure to win any of these will surely see the manager sacked as patience runs low at the East London club.
