Dejan Kulusevski ‘lucky’ to escape extended ban after ‘petulant’ Tottenham footage analysed – expert
Paul Robinson has told Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski to cut out his “petulance.”
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one insisted the 21-year-old was lucky to escape a red card against Brighton on Saturday.
Kulusevski lashed out at Seagulls defender Marc Cucurella in the first half of Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat.
However, as shown on BT Sport (16 April), the Sweden international flung an elbow towards Cucurella but did not connect with his opponent.
Kulusevski was only cautioned by referee Craig Pawson following the incident.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the incident, Robinson said: “It was the first bit of frustration we have seen from him.
“He didn’t like the way Brighton were playing. There were a few niggles in the game.
“It was petulant from him though and he should know better. That has to come out of his game You cannot do that sort of thing because it will catch up with you. It will cost him.
“On another day he could have been sent off for that. In all honesty, he was lucky not have been sent off on the day. We do not want to see that again.”
A red card would have resulted in Kulusevski being suspended for upcoming fixtures against Brentford and Leicester City.

Kulusevski has starred for Spurs since joining from Juventus on deadline day in January.
He has contributed three goals and six assists in 12 Premier League appearances to date.
