Dele Alli backed to complete Everton exit after BBC update – pundit

A transfer to Besiktas may be the best move for Dele Alli and Everton.

That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s future.

As per BBC Sport (17 August), Everton are continuing discussions with Turkish club Besiktas over the departure of midfielder Alli.

Everton

The former Tottenham man only joined the Toffees in January after falling out of favour under Antonio Conte.

Alli has come off the bench in both of Everton’s Premier league games this season, playing a combined 38 minutes.

McLeish claims a move may be best for all parties.

“I saw him scoring a screamer for England at one of the Wembley games a few years ago,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“I thought what a player this guy is, the third-man runs he makes. It’s in the style of Frank Lampard.

“He looked such an exciting young talent. Back in the day, when young players would come through, they would soar and then they would plateau.

“It seems as though Alli is on the way down now and he won’t be able to fulfil that potential. He has such a gift, you can see it in those runs he would make.

“It’s not something you can teach. You can do passing drills but the vision he has, you can’t teach that. I don’t know how you teach it, I used to do it naturally as well.

“He isn’t contributing for Everton so you wonder if it’s better for everyone if he gets a fresh start.”

Everton

Alli has made 13 total appearances for Everton but only one of those has been from the start.

He has failed to register a goal or assists in his Blues career.

In other news, a source has revealed the door has opened for Everton to sign a Premier League star after twist.
