Dele Alli told to ‘wake up’ amid ‘desperate’ Everton claim – pundit

Dele Alli isn’t good enough to start for Everton and needs to sort out his attitude if he is to save his career.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider

Alli, 25, has made six appearances for Everton since joining from Tottenham in January, all off the bench.

However, he played no part as his side beat Newcastle United 1-0 on Thursday (17 March).

He also missed Sunday’s (20 March) FA Cup loss v Crystal Palace because he is cup-tied.

“Not starting doesn’t help but clearly he’s not good enough to start,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“These are desperate times for Everton and you would think Alli is someone who can help them out.

“He’s not been injured, has he? So I don’t know why he’s not been starting.

“He can’t get in the team and when you aren’t starting games you are going to struggle.

“You would think a change in scenery would do him the world of good but clearly he hasn’t been training well enough.

“You have to question his attitude at this point, I can’t think what else would be keeping him from playing.

“If that’s the case he needs to wake up.”

Alli joined Everton on January 31 after falling out of favour at Tottenham.

The same day, Sky Sports reported the midfielder could cost the Toffees up to £40million with the deal structured around performance-based add-ons.
