‘Delusion I need’ – Leeds fans ‘love’ what Daniel Farke said about Calvert-Lewin ahead of Man City
Leeds United supporters are in love with Daniel Farke following his tongue-in-cheek admission over Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Farke has won 18 of his nighttime kick-offs at Elland Road, drawing three and losing zero, and many are hoping for the trend to continue when Man City come to visit on Saturday, 28 February.
Arsenal fans, especially, will have a close eye on proceedings, as will Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and West Ham, as the Premier League relegation battle heats up.
The Whites have done incredibly since the beginning of December, with Farke saving his job after a horrendous start to the campaign, and with 10 goals, Calvert-Lewin must be praised.
However, some have been baffled by Farke’s hilarious comparison to one of the sport’s most in-form strikers – Erling Haaland.
Daniel Farke makes hilarious Erling Haaland comparison
In his press conference, Farke said that Calvert-Lewin is the only one who “comes close” to Haaland in terms of being the best striker in the world. It is exactly what supporters want to hear.
One supporter loved the “type of delusion” from the manager ahead of facing Man City, while others questioned what the German was thinking in his press conference.
While some commended the Leeds boss for his comments, others could not stop laughing. Man City fans might not be laughing when the former Everton man inevitably scores at the weekend.
- @JH1896: “HAHAHAHAHAH WHAT’S HE BEEN SMOKING?”
- @PJ_Jenno: “Farke been Wetherspoons for his lunch? Few too many.”
- @CharlieBarnicle: “What he said.”
Should Man City be worried about Calvert-Lewin’s record?
Pep Guardiola will definitely be taking the striker’s threat seriously at Elland Road, given that he has notched double digits for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign.
However, in 14 meetings, Calvert-Lewin has never been on the winning side against Man City, drawing three and losing 11 across the Premier League and FA Cup.
He has been known to cause problems, though, proving that in the reverse fixture in November when he scored off the bench, bringing his total up to three goals and two assists.
Given Leeds’ record at Elland Road, it could be the perfect chance for the striker to break his awful record against the Citizens.
