'Mid-table mediocrity' – Experts deliver damning Rangers verdict on Murty

Rangers are destined for mediocrity under the current management if top Scottish football experts for the Daily Record are correct.
A panel of judges, writing for the Scottish media outlet, made their opinions known to the masses on Monday and it is not a good fate that awaits the Gers if the situation at the top remains as it is.
Gordon Parks pointed to the Ibrox club’s form since Murty took over from Pedro Caixinha after the Portuguese manager was sacked back in October as evidence to back up his views.
The Light Blues fell to defeat at home against Hibernian on Saturday to make it five losses in 16 games since Murty took charge and a record that is distinctly average.
Writing in his column in the Daily Record, Parks is quoted as saying: “There is a naivety with Murty in a job which requires a more charismatic figure. This is a Rangers side destined for no more than mid-table mediocrity and it’s fact backed up by results and shows the need for someone to come in and properly revamp the side for next season’s challenges.
While Keith Jackson also backed up his colleague’s opinion as he added: “No offence to Murty who has cut a stoic figure at Ibrox but it’s ridiculous that he has been placed in this position with little or no managerial experience. He’ll have to continue to learn on the job until the end of the season but Rangers will only be papering over the cracks until such times as Dave King addresses this issue properly.
It would be difficult to argue with the views of the two after Rangers have slipped back into third behind Aberdeen in the SPL table, despite a brief spell where they had leapfrogged Derek McInnes’ side.
An unlikely draw against their Old Firm rivals was followed up with an assured 2-0 victory over the Dons and there was a feeling that Rangers were on their way back to becoming a threat after years in the footballing wilderness.
However, recent event have been a reality check and if the experts are right, only a change at the top can improve the verdict on their supposed average destiny.
