‘Devastated’ Harry Maguire could now join Chelsea after ‘shattering’ news – pundit

Harry Maguire could join Chelsea after the “shattering” blow of being dropped from the Man United team.

That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.

Maguire, 29, was dropped to the bench for Monday’s (22 August) 2-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.

According to the Evening Standard‘s Nizaar Kinsella (24 August), Thomas Tuchel’s side could try to sign Maguire, 29, if they are unsuccessful in their bid for Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana.

Maguire failed to impress as Man United lost their first two games of the season.

McLeish claims Maguire will be fearing for his future at Old Trafford.

“Maguire, I still rate him very highly and he could fit in with a lot of teams,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“He’s been linked with Chelsea now which is unbelievable. He’s a human being, he will be shattered [after being dropped].

“He will be shattered like every other person would be. He will be playing mind games with himself. Back in the day, Sir Alex dropped me and I didn’t get back in for a couple of games.

“I was devastated and I can only imagine Maguire isn’t too happy about it either and are really fearing for his future at Man United.”
