Diaz and Kerkez react to Liverpool’s Andy Robertson message amid Anfield exit links
Luis Diaz and Milos Kerkez have reacted to a new message from Liverpool about Andy Robertson amid rumours linking him with a move away from Anfield.
Robertson is a modern-day Liverpool legend for his impressive exploits in some highly successful years as a club since his £10million [BBC] move from Hull City in 2017.
The Scottish international has proven himself as one of the best bargains in the Reds’ history over the last eight years, yet age is not on his side anymore and he has seen serious competition for his left-back spot arrive this summer with Kerkez moving to Anfield from Bournemouth.
Football Insider revealed in June that Liverpool are weighing up whether to let Robertson leave this summer, amid interest in his signature from Atletico Madrid, with Slot potentially set to make Kerkez his first-choice on the left of a back-four next season.
Robertson would prefer to join Atletico rather than stay in the Premier League if he leaves the Reds, as revealed to Football Insider by former scout Mick Brown, and an exit therefore looks possible in the coming weeks.

Liverpool celebrate eight years since Robertson’s arrival
Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull on 21 July 2017, and the Reds have marked the eight-year anniversary of his arrival with numerous posts on Instagram on Monday (21 July), with the first reading: “‘Ohhh Andy, Andy…’ On this day in 2017, Andy Robertson signed for the Reds.”
The Reds also shared another post to commemorate the 31-year-old’s special day, with a number of pictures of him holding silverware for the club since he joined captioned: “Robbo through the years,” with camera and trophy emojis.
Liverpool’s message to Robertson was liked by fellow exit-linked Reds man Diaz and his new competition in Kerkez, as well as Curtis Jones and former club-captain Jordan Henderson.
Liverpool should keep Robertson until the end of his contract
Football Insider verdict
Robertson’s individual form has dropped off in the last two seasons compared to previous campaigns, but he was still a pivotal part of Liverpool’s first Premier League triumph under Slot, and certainly can not be written off just yet.
The 31-year-old still featured 45 times in all competitions in 2024/25, despite being rotated with Kostas Tsimikas at times, and it still feels premature to say he should leave the Merseyside outfit just because Kerkez has joined.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |

The decision could well be taken out of his hands, with former scout Brown recently telling Football Insider that Liverpool are prepared to accept offers for Robertson after the Hungarian international’s arrival.
Rather than letting a club legend like Robertson go, Slot should simply agree to rotate him and Kerkez throughout the season based on form and then sell Tsimikas, who is of interest to both Nottingham Forest and Leeds.
Robertson has just one year left on his contract at Anfield, and it would feel much more fitting for him to bow out on a free transfer at 32-years-old having won a few more trophies next term, rather than be forced to leave this summer just so they can raise funds.
