Three big names axed: This Tottenham XI will rip Arsenal to shreds
Hugo Lloris (Goalkeeper) – The number one was rested in midweek and will return to take his usual starting role ahead of Michel Vorm.
Kieran Trippier (Right-back) – The crossing king has gone from being Serge Aurier’s back-up to becoming Pochettino’s number one choice at right-back. A brilliant performance against Manchester United was followed by another solid showing v Liverpool, and Aurier’s selection against Newport would suggest Trippier will start against Arsenal. That would be the correct decision.
Toby Alderweireld (Centre-back) – The massive fans favourite made his long-awaited return from injury against Newport and delivered a typically Rolls Royce performance. With club record signing Davinson Sanchez going through a bad patch of form, the Belgian must start, assuming he feels no ill effects from midweek.
Jan Vertonghen (Centre-back) – Mr. Reliable for Spurs this year, Vertonghen was given a much-needed rest against Newport. He must take his place in the left-sided centre-back role against Arsenal following his masterly displays against Liverpool and Manchester United.
Ben Davies (Left-back) – Davies has capitalised on Danny Rose’s injury problems to become Pochettino’s first-choice left-back. The Welshman was rested for Rose on Wednesday, but his greater defensive capabilities should see him start on Saturday. Rose would be the second big name axed.
