‘It is really difficult’ – Rangers 29-year-old makes honest admission

Rangers striker Eduardo Herrera has revealed he hopes to get an opportunity to prove himself after Kenny Miller picked up a hamstring injury – but admits it’s been “difficult” barely playing for the Light Blues.

Herrera has been the Scottish Premiership’s most used substitute this season and has appeared from the bench in 15 of the Gers’ 19 league games so far.

The Mexican moved to Rangers over the summer from UNAM Pumas in his homeland but as taken his time to adjust to the difference style of football in Scotland.

The 29-year-old revealed that he was hoping to get a “proper” game in the near future and show his ability after a lacklustre start to his Ibrox career.

“I’m aware that I haven’t shown what I am capable of but sometimes it is really difficult when you don’t have the minutes to show it,” Herrera said, as quoted by The Herald.

“When you have five, three or one minute to come on in a game, it’s hard.

“Hopefully I can get a proper game soon and show what I can do.”

The striker has made nine appearances for his national team and would have been hoping that his move to Ibrox would boost his chances to make El Tri’s World Cup squad next summer but given his lack of game-time it’s unlikely to happen.

After Miller was stretchered off during the win over Hibs last week, Herrera’s chances of getting more starts looked to have improved however the striker again started on the bench against St. Johnstone on Saturday.

In other Rangers news, Jim Duffy has urged the Gers to appoint this 59-year-old as soon as possible.
