Diogo Jota issues Liverpool update amid Arsenal transfer news
Liverpool forward Diogo Jota posted an update on social media as the club prepare to face Everton in the Premier League.
Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup on 9 February after a shock 1-0 defeat to Championship strugglers Plymouth.
Jota started in a central role against Plymouth but failed to make an impact as Arne Slot’s side crashed out of the competition.
Football Insider revealed that Arsenal are plotting a move for Jota, with his versatility appealing to Mikel Arteta.
Despite the speculation and his underwhelming performance at the weekend, the Portuguese forward remained active on social media, posting an update for fans.
Arne Slot continues to rely on Diogo Jota in central role
Jota took to Instagram to share a training update ahead of his team’s crucial Merseyside derby against Everton on 12 February.
Liverpool fans have criticised Jota this season following his frequent injury concerns but Slot has continued his trust in the winger.

He has already missed 16 games this season due to two separate injuries, adding to the 25 matches he was sidelined for last season.
Originally a winger, the former Wolves star has been deployed more centrally under Slot, featuring as a striker rather than in his usual wide role.
This season, he has made 21 appearances in all competitions, starting seven of his 15 Premier League games and scoring eight goals in that time.
Arsenal consider Diogo Jota to boost attacking options
Football Insider Verdict
The Gunners have been hit with an injury crisis in recent months, losing Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli for periods of the season.
Arsenal fans have criticised owner Stan Kroenke after the club failed to bring in any attacking reinforcements during the January window.
Jota has emerged as a potential target, with Mikel Arteta’s side looking to add experience and goal-scoring ability to their frontline. However, it remains unclear why Liverpool would consider selling him to a direct title rival.
His injury record is also a concern. Arsenal have already suffered multiple setbacks in their attack, and if Jota were to sign, there would be fears he could continue that trend.
Additionally, Jota is currently trusted ahead of Darwin Nunez in Liverpool’s frontline, meaning the club would need to find a replacement if they allowed him to leave.
For now, the focus remains on the Merseyside derby, as Liverpool face Everton in their game in hand in the Premier League.
