Dire Crystal Palace star will get Oliver Glasner sacked as abysmal stats emerge from Macclesfield defeat
Crystal Palace were humiliated on Saturday as Macclesfield knocked out the FA Cup holder with a shock 2-1 victory.
It was an embarrassing result for the Eagles as they were defeated by a side in the sixth tier of English football.
Yet, the defeat is just one of many in recent weeks, with Palace’s form disintegrating since the start of the festive period.
Oliver Glasner may now find himself under huge pressure at Selhurst Park, and summer signing Christantus Uche has played a big part in this downfall.
Christantus Uche was awful against Macclesfield
Uche arrived at Palace in the summer with big expectations.
However, since he was brought in, the attacker has yet to even net a goal in the Premier League and has only found scored in the Europa Conference League.
Against Macclesfield, he was given the nod by Glasner to lead the line, as he looked to boost his confidence against the sixth-tier side.

Yet, the striker was simply awful and was arguably Palace’s worst player on the field.
According to Fotmob on 10 January, Uche managed three shots, zero of which were on target and only completed 22 per cent of his aerial duels.
| Christantus Uche’s stats vs Macclesfield | |
| Minutes | 90 |
| Shots | 3 |
| Shots on target | 0 |
| Aerial duels won | 22% |
| Passing accuracy | 86% |
| Chances created | 1 |
With Palace continuing to struggle, there is a serious chance that Uche’s failure could result in Glasner’s dismissal.
As a result, the Eagles have to stop giving the 22-year-old chances before he helps contribute to another defeat.
What did Oliver Glasner say after the defeat to Macclesfield?
Glasner was obviously far from amused that Palace had just been knocked out by Macclesfield on Saturday.
Dreams of a successful 2025-26 campaign now seem to be dwindling, with the Europa Conference League the final competition the Eagles are in, alongside the Premier League.
In his post-match assessment, Glasner did not hold back and was quick to criticise Palace’s display as they suffered an embarrassing defeat as the holders of the competition.
He told BBC Sport on 10 January: “We give congratulations to Macclesfield for winning.
“We had no kind of quality today and I saw no one who could win a dribble. Then conceding set goals and timing in the header.
“If you can’t create clear chances, it is a lack of quality that we have shown today. We deserved to lose.”
