‘Does so much more’ – Exclusive: Robinson wowed by Tottenham star who is ‘still getting better’
Paul Robinson heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Harry Kane following his performance for England in the 4-0 win over Kosovo on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Spurs No.1 revealed that he thought Kane was still improving and that he was closing in on becoming the all-round No.9.
Kane scored during England’s comfortable win over Kosovo but Robinson singled him out for praise due to the 26-year-old dropping deep in the match in order to create chances for his pacey teammates.
Robinson admitted that Kane’s goalscoring ability has never been in questioned but stated that the Spurs forward’s all around-game had improved and highlighted his movement as being an area of his game which had gotten better.
When asked if Kane got the credit he deserves for being more than just a goalscorer, Robinson told Football Insider: “He does so much more and I think he is still getting better.
“I think his all-around game is better, his movement, the way he drops deep now because he is playing with two wide players who have pace now.
“Last night was the perfect example, he dropped deep, played with his back to goal and played a great ball into Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who released Winks through on goal, and he’s doing that on a regular basis now.
“He’s playing great balls, attacking balls through, and his all-around game is still getting better.
“His goalscoring ability has never been questioned and I think he is becoming the all-around No.9.”
Kane has averaged a goal every 135 minutes for Spurs this season after scoring 10 times in his first 15 outings of the current campaign.
The 26-year-old has scored a total of 172 goals for Tottenham in 268 appearances for the club after rising through the club’s youth system to break into the first-team.
