Dominic Calvert-Lewin: West Ham tipped to beat ‘bigger clubs’ to signing – pundit

West Ham could beatthe “traditionally bigger clubs” and sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid the latest in the Hammers’ striker hunt.

The Sun reported on 22 January that David Moyes want to bring Calvert-Lewin to east London and will be first in line if his former club drops their current asking price of £60million.

A West Ham source told Football Insider yesterday (27 January) the club’s top striker targets before Monday’s cut-off are Blackburn Rovers’ Ben Brereton Diaz and Armando Broja who is currently on loan at Southampton from Chelsea.

Kenny insists the Irons have the funds to sing Calvert-Lewin and claimed the striker could look to leave Everton if their poor form continues.

“Well, if Everton keep going the way they are, Calvert-Lewin will want out, I’m sure,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He has ambitions of keeping his place in the England team and he has a better chance of doing that with West Ham.

“I think that’s one to keep an eye out for in the summer.

“He’s a brilliant striker but he has had his injuries this season, unfortunately.

“I think he still has a lot to prove and if he scores a few goals before the end of the season maybe that will convince West Ham to shell out on him.

“It will take a big fee to get him but we know West Ham have money now.

“Who wouldn’t want to join them at the moment?

They are a club on the up and maybe he could join them ahead of some of the traditionally bigger clubs.”
