Dominik Szoboszlai ‘eyeing up a move to Real Madrid’ as Liverpool exit fears grow

Dominik Szoboszlai’s form at Liverpool has deservedly seen him linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid interest from Real Madrid in the Liverpool midfielder.

Szoboszlai, who can also play at right-back, has been a standout performer in Arne Slot’s team this season with 10 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

The 25-year-old’s contract at Liverpool does not expire until 2028, but Champions League football may not be on offer at Anfield next season and the lure of Real Madrid may be too tempting to turn down.

Dominik Szoboszlai could fulfil Real Madrid ‘dream’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Liverpool will have to watch out for Real Madrid’s pursuit of Szoboszlai in the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Szoboszlai could be “eyeing up a move” to the La Liga club.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, he was somebody that the fans were talking about for a while. He didn’t like him, he wasn’t doing well now.

“He’s the best player in the squad, first name on the team sheet. And it was Marco Rossi, think, his Hungarian national team manager, who said that his dream was to play for Real Madrid. And I think he could actually do that.

“I think he showed you enough that Madrid could be interested. And I think that could be something that Liverpool have to watch for at the end of the season.

“Look, you know, there’s form for Real Madrid taking Liverpool players, as we know. And I think Szoboszlai could be one of those that could well be eyeing up a move down there.”

Liverpool find Mohamed Salah replacement

Liverpool will be expected to lose Mohamed Salah in the summer, with the 33-year-old likely to move to Saudi Arabia.

The Reds have already identified Rio Ngumoha as a long-term successor to Salah, with the 17-year-old having broken through into the first team this season.

Ngumoha has made nine first team appearances in the Premier League, scoring one goal, with Liverpool believing in the teenager’s high potential.
