Done deal: Forward confirms Leeds switch on Instagram

By Danny Wright

Former Barcelona forward Kun Temenuzhkov has confirmed that he has completed a deal to join Leeds.

The 17-year-old has updated his personal Instagram account to say that he is a “player for Leeds” and also posted a picture of him wearing the club’s training gear at the academy facility.

Bulgarian news outlet Novsport reported that the striker had terminated his contract at Barca in order to complete a switch to Elland Road.

He had been pictured at the Manchester City training ground, which sparked rumours that he was on the verge of joining the Premier League heavy-hitters rather than the Whites.

However Albert Roge of Spanish news outlet Sport claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that Temenuzhkov had gone to Manchester in order to complete his medical ahead of signing for Leeds.

The Bulgaria Under-18 international is yet to earn a senior appearance in his career and it was reported by Novsport that he has moved to Leeds as he feels as though he will have a better chance of reaching his potential in the future.

Football Insider Verdict

Leeds have always had one of the most exciting youth set-ups in the country, and it now looks like it’s getting even better with the arrival of a player who has progressed through the ranks at Barcelona. There’s been a major change at Leeds this summer and Temenuzhkov’s arrival shows that the Whites are looking to revamp their development squads as well as Thomas Christiansen’s first-team. This all seems to be a part of Andrea Radrizzani’s long-term plan at Elland Road, and it appears like the Italian businessman has got off to a flyer. Temenuzhkov’s arrival probably hinders some of the chances of young English players, but deals like this could be common place across Europe in the next year or so as a result of Brexit. EU players like Temenuzhkov might find it difficult to play in the UK in years to come, so it’s best to get them in now.

In other Leeds news, this senior Whites player is unlikely to earn a squad number ahead of the upcoming season.
