Done deal: Liverpool stopper offloaded to English club after terms agreed

By Harvey Byrne

Liverpool goalkeeper Shamal George has agreed to the terms of a loan deal with League Two outfit Carlisle, it has been confirmed on Tuesday.

The Merseyside giants confirmed on their official website and Twitter account that the 19-year-old shot-stopper had put pen to paper on a contract extension before moving to the north on an initial six-month loan.

The loan move marks George’s first of his early career and he will be looking to impress at the English fourth tier club, who finished in sixth place in League Two last season.

The teenager will be looking to make his first appearances in senior football in the next campaign and he will also be delighted to have extended his stay at Anfield with his former contract expiring next summer.

Liverpool, meanwhile are covered in the goalkeeping department and have each of Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius, Danny Ward and Adam Bogdan in their ranks.

Football Insider verdict:

Liverpool have shown with their contract extension for George that they have high hopes for him and they will now be hoping that he can impress at Carisle before making his Anfield return. As mentioned the Reds are well covered in the goalkeeper position. However, all of the names can be improved upon and George could be a potential number one for the Reds. A loan move also done youngster Ward the world of good last season as he joined promotion winning Huddersfield and this move can certainly help help George develop into a solid first teamer.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Newcastle have been installed as joint favourites to sign this Reds player.
