Done deal: Wolves confirm defender leaves for Midlands club
By Danny Wright
Wolves have confirmed that centre-back Aaron Hayden has agreed to leave Molineux in order to join non-league side Telford on loan.
The Championship club announced on their official Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon that the 20-year-old defender has moved to the New Bucks Head on a season-long deal.
Former Chelsea youngster Hayden has never earned a senior appearance for Wolves, but is now preparing for his second temporary stint away from the club following a short spell with Newport County in the 2015/16 season.
His new team-mates at Midlands club Telford will be hoping for a better time next season as they almost suffered relegation from the National League North last season.
They feature in the sixth tier of the English football pyramid, which is a considerable drop down from Newport who were in League Two during his previous loan spell.
Wolves have also loaned out Niall Ennis to Telford’s fierce local rivals Shrewsbury, however they are just a league below Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Football Insider Verdict
It seems that Hayden doesn’t have much of a future ahead of him now that he is joining Telford in the National League North. At the age of 20, you would expect players to at least be earning experience in the Football League, however the ex-Chelsea defender is two levels below even League Two. It’s likely that Wolves will look to offload Hayden for good in the future, especially if they don’t think that he’s going to get much football in the Under-23 side next season. He could prove a lot of people wrong with Telford, but it’s unlikely that whatever he does in the sixth-tier will be noticed by many Football League sides.
In other Wolves news, Hayden isn’t the only player to leave Molineux this week.
