Done deal: Wolves confirm tenth summer signing

By Danny Wright

Wolves have confirmed Diogo Jota as their tenth signing of the summer as he arrives from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal.

The Championship club announced on their official Twitter account on Monday morning that the 20-year-old has agreed terms to his temporary switch to Molineux.

Jota joins Ruben Neves, Roderick Miranda, Barry Douglas, Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, Ryan Bennett, John Ruddy, Ruben Vinagre, Willy Boly and Will Norris in signing up for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Molineux revolution.

Wolves’ latest recruit Jota worked alongside Nuno at Porto last season while he was again on loan from Atletico.

He featured 38 times across all competitions for the Portuguese titans last term, scoring nine goals and supplying seven assists in the process.

The Express and Star has recently reported that there is an option-to-buy clause tied into Jota’s loan switch to Molineux, which can be activated next summer.

Jota joined Atletico from Pacos Ferreira in the summer of 2016 but is yet to earn his senior debut for the Madrid giants, who have now sent him out on loan twice.

Football Insider Verdict

Wolves have been ultra-busy this summer, and it all started by bringing in Nuno as their new manager to replace Paul Lambert. Jota is perhaps up there with one of the most exciting new arrivals as he will provide a brilliant wing option while also being proficient at playing as a striker. However the Wanderers still need to find a man who can spearhead their attack, and that has to be Nuno’s next step. Nouha Dicko and Joe Mason don’t replicate the ambition of the Wolves owners, so they have to go all out on someone who can put the ball in the back of the net.

In other Wolves news, the club are looking to bolster this problem area next – but it isn’t an attacking position.
