Door opens for Rangers to seal fourth major signing – Ibrox Sources
The door has opened for Rangers to make Florian Kamberi their fourth major signing of the summer.
Hibernian are willing to let the striker leave and would prefer it to be a permanent deal after agreeing a fee with Dunfermline for Kevin Nisbet.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers have held talks on a second Kamberi loan but are not yet convinced about signing him full-time.
Hibs were willing to let the Swiss-Albanian forward go for around £1.5million earlier this year but it is likely he would now cost significantly less.
This site revealed in May that Kamberi, 25, was keen to convert on a permanent move to Rangers and regarded it as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” he does not want to pass up.
He made nine appearances for the Light Blues in the second half of last season after joining on loan from Hibernian in January.
A permanent deal for Kamberi would eat into Rangers’ budget for new players amid the strong possibility they will have to replace Alfredo Morelos this summer.
A loan deal may suit Steven Gerrard’s side better as it would free up cash for a possible number one striker if they lose the Colombian.
Steven Gerrard’s side have already made three major signings since last season finished.
Forward Ianis Hagi signed from Genk permanently for an initial £3m after his successful loan spell.
Left-back Calvin Bassey joined from Leicester City for a small compensation fee and goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin arrived from Sunderland on a free transfer.
In other Rangers news, Alan Hutton has tipped Steven Gerrard to unleash never-seen rookie after big development.
