Douglas Luiz to Arsenal: Pundit reveals what he ‘knows’ about deal – ‘fans won’t want to hear it’
Aston Villa could sell both Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey this summer to balance their “worrying” books.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed Villa could fetch at least £100million for the pair which would help them prevent a PSR sanction.
The Villans recently announced a £119.6milion loss in their end-of-year accounts meaning they look likely to sanction player sales this summer to avoid a potential points deduction like Everton’s and Nottingham Forest’s.
Sources have told Football Insider (22 March) that Ramsey, 22, could be sold this summer as his departure would register as pure profit on Villa’s books.
Aston Villa could sacrifice Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Luiz, 25, as well as Man City, with Football Insider revealing (28 February) that Pep Guardiola’s side have stepped up their interest ahead of a summer move.
Robinson was adamant that the the duo’s departures could prove vital for Villa avoiding a hefty sanction.
“Their books are worrying,” he told the Inside Track podcast.
“From a Villa point of view, if they don’t get Champions League football, the likes of Jacob Ramsey and Douglas Luiz could want to leave.
“I know for a fact that Arsenal are looking at Luiz.

“If Villa were in a situation where they had to balance the books, Ramsey and Luiz bring you £100million between them at least – there’s your books balanced.
“Fans won’t want to hear that though.”
