Douglas Park ‘wants out’ of Rangers – ‘from what I’ve been told,’ expert reveals

Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers chairman Douglas Park “wants out”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Park would “gladly walk away” from Ibrox.

On 7 December, the Light Blues confirmed the re-election of their board, including the chairman, following their general meeting.

Prior to the AGM, fan shareholder group Club 1872 had stated their intention to vote against the re-election of Park but the chairman was reinstated after 73.4 per cent voted in his favour.

Directors Julian Wolhardt and George Taylor each gained the support of more than 98 per cent of those that voted.

But McAvennie has suggested Park could look for a way out.

It is what it is, they have voted him in,” he told Football Insider.

Douglas Park sticks up for Rangers, that is all he is interested in. Sometimes he gets it wrong I think.

I do not know the ins and outs but I do not understand why they are not taking the sponsorship money. From what I have been told, Park has told the SFA that they could not do the cinch deal.

There is more to it than meets the eye. I do not know why they did not take the money.

I think if somebody came in with deeper pockets than him he would gladly walk away. He is doing well but the money is a problem at the moment. As a chairman I would want out.
