Doukara: This is how I have transformed my Leeds career
By Harvey Byrne
Souleymane Doukara has spoken of the good atmosphere at Leeds following the appointment of Garry Monk as the reason why he has improved so dramatically this season.
The 25-year-old attacker made the switch to Elland Road in the summer of 2014 from Italian side Catania.
He has become an ever-present in the Yorkshire giants’ team this campaign, but he hasn’t always been as highly thought of as he has under Monk.
Doukara continued his impressive form for the club on Wednesday, scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest with a stunning volley from the edge of the box.
The Frenchman has seen a huge upturn in form this season and he paid tribute to the manager and coaching staff for helping him to transform his Leeds career.
“Because I work hard in the team,” started Doukara speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after the midweek victory.
“The manager and the staff have helped me a lot. They make me feel important for the team. Even when I don’t start the game, everyone helps each other. There’s a really good atmosphere and that’s why I improve a lot.”
Doukara has played in 75 encounters during his three years at the club, bringing a return of 17 goals and eight assists.
Of those appearances, 21 have come in this season alone with five goals and three assists.
He will be keen to continue his good form with his contract currently set to run out at the end of the campaign, while the club now sit in third place in the Championship table.
