Dr Dan lauds Arsenal for ‘strong appointment’ after Slot deal agreed

Doctor Dan Plumley has heaped praise on Arsenal for the “strong appointment” of Juliet Slot as chief commercial officer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the sport finance expert said the former chief commercial officer of Ascot Racecourse has “a great track record in sport”.

On Monday, Sport Business reported (6 December) that Arsenal have appointed Juliet Slot to replace outgoing chief commercial officer Peter Silverstone.

Slot arrives with a wealth of experience, having worked at Ascot, the British Olympic Association, Fulham and sports PR consultancy Pitch.

Speaking on her appointment, Slot detailed how she plans to bring Arsenal’s “huge” fanbase “closer to the club”.

Plumley was particularly interested by the new chief commercial officer’s comments about fans.

“It was interesting to hear that she wants to bring the fans closer to the club,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs. “That was front and centre.

“Fan relations have been soured over the course of the last few months, with the Super League among other things.

“With Arsenal, a lot of those fans will be international and that is where the commercial opportunity is.

“Wider than that, Juliet will be looking at new partnerships, ranging from ticketing, hospitality, retail and digital experience.

“She has got a really great track record in sport. She was chief commercial officer at Ascot, helped on the London 2012 bid and she was at Fulham previously. It is a strong appointment.”

In other news, Campbell has delivered an ‘honest’ verdict on Wenger returning to Arsenal director’s confirmed news.
